Members of the G8

The G8 is made up of heads of government from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States.  The European Union is also represented at meetings by both the president of the European Commission and the leader of the country that has European Union presidency.

The group’s original 1976 line-up included France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.  These countries were later joined by Canada in 1976 and Russia in 1998.

All G8 members originate from the developed, industrialised world.  The G8 excludes China and India, despite their rapid economic growth, and fails to represent countries in Africa and Latin America.  This has led to accusations that the G8’s priorities fail to represent the majority of the developing world.

It has been suggested -e.g. in february 2011 (I forget by whom)- that the G8 may lose importance "in favour" of the G20 sooner than anticipated -seeing the current politicaly & economicaly problematic state of most G8-members. In today's globalized context a fundamental redesigning of the planet's institutions and their interactions imposes itself. This calls for a revolution in the minds of everyone, from the top decision makers to the "lowest" of citizens. That will hurt and take time, and even though some of us may fear this (r)evolution we must remain hopefull. "There's nothing to fear but fear itself."

I think G8 is all about political organization rather than economical.. it is organization where developed countries make plans to scramble the world natural resource. So I don't think they will include another party ..because it is nature of thief's not to share food with more parties.

Nigeria will not be a good choice to attract my vote now considering its political immaturity. I will rather vote China into the group making it G9.
